Historic Faith in a Changing World

As the early church was being born they had specific priorities that shaped who they were as a people. Their beginnings were grounded in their past as they moved forward. They were serious about the Holy Scriptures as the prophetic voice of God unfolding the redemptive narrative of God to restore His people unto Himself in a resurrected life. The gathering of the believers and the Lord's table were intentional priorities for the church as well as prayer and other means of grace. So as a church today standing upon the shoulders of a historical church:

  • We hold to an historical view of Christianity.
  • We study from the perspective of the reformers.
  • We practice faith in step with traditions.

Worship Gatherings

When you visit Cornerstone you will be warmly greeted by many in our family. You will notice that the Gospel message is central to our gathering. You will be invited to join us in corporate worship that is both joyful and an expression of faith. During our service you will see that Jesus is treasured and enjoyed and your children will learn to treasure Christ and respond in worship to God's great gifts. After an expository sermon you will have the opportunity as a believer to partake in the Lord's Supper as we conclude in a song celebrating the goodness of God as revealed in His Son Jesus Christ.

Our Mission

We exist to Glorify God by making authentic disciples who elevate Christ in:

CONFESSION

As a confessional church we see the sufficiency of Christ as our source of righteousness before God and for holy living. The holy Scriptures are the priority in our gatherings, in our preaching, our conversations and daily living. Not only does God’s word shape who and how we live, faith becomes the catalyst that prepares our hearts to say yes to God. We want eyes that see God’s goodness everywhere around us and hearts that faithfully respond in worship. In our prayers we declare God’s goodness, authority and righteousness in all circumstances so that our conversations stir one another to good works in Christ Jesus.

COMMUNITY

As a fellowship of believers we intentionally seek to live in covenant with each other. We desire to be a home where outsiders can become insiders, where sinners can be forgiven, where the repentant can move from brokenness to wholeness and the lost can be found. As a people we ask for hearts that serve with joy bearing one another's burdens with an attitude of grace. When we pray, we seek hearts filled with courage, eyes that see God’s revealed goodness and hearts that respond in worshipful obedience. As active disciples, we table well because discipleship happens in relationship.

CELEBRATION

We are a people who genuinely enjoy life and this is reflective in our times together. Whether we are gathering for worship or as friends we joyfully aim to reflect the glory of God by echoing the revelation of who God is. We live life as an authentic response with grateful songs, thankful prayers and generous giving. We share a common Spirit-shaped faith, foster mutual encouragement, seek harmony in truth and encourage an affectionate response when truth stirs the heart.
